In March 2023, Thor’s research into what has happened to Valhalla pits him against Doctor Doom, the archenemy of the Fantastic Four.
Thor has battled Galactus, the Hulk, the ghost of his own hammer, and more in his most recent solo series, but in March 2023, he faces off against Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four’s most formidable foe.
Marvel has released the first portion of its March 2023 solicitations, which includes the cover and specifics for Thor #32 by Nic Klein and Torunn Grnbekk. Thor will investigate how the Asgardian afterlife, Valhalla, has been invaded and drained of its souls in Thor #31 to begin a new story arc for the series, but the next issue will put Thor against Doom, whose “latest plot lays deep in Asgard’s history.” In order to protect reality itself from the villain, Thor will engage in wits-, morals-, and might-based combat with Doom, according to the issue’s solicitation.
Thor will battle Thanos and Doctor Doom
Doom has recently made several appearances in the Marvel Universe, including Iron Man, All-Out Avengers, Captain America: Symbol of Truth, Midnight Suns, Strange, and more. Thor #32 is the latest appearance of Doom. Of course, Thanos, another well-known Marvel villain, has been causing Thor problems even though he hasn’t physically appeared in his solo series yet. Thor has had visions of Thanos killing him in the future while wielding an Infinity Stone-enhanced Mjolnir and a mysterious black gauntlet ever since his first arc, which was focused on the Black Winter.
“The Legacy of Thanos,” the two-issue arc that comes before the one in which Thor battles Doom, may provide readers with some clarification on what the black gauntlet is. The one-shot Thanos: Death Notes #1, in which Thor discovers that his paternal grandfather, the Asgardian King Bor, has a connection to what has been dubbed the “Black Infinity Stone,” sets up “The Legacy of Thanos.” Thor has knowledge of the black stone, but so has Corvus Glaive, one of Thanos’ offspring, who has abducted Laussa, Thor’s younger sister, in order to locate it.
What Has Been Happening to Valhalla in the Marvel Universe?
The third problem Thor faces is that Valhalla is empty; this was found when Odin passed away. Because he discovered Valhalla’s gates broken wide and no one in sight when he came, Thor’s father now haunts his son’s hammer. Since then, Odin’s spirit has stood by Thor’s side, offering guidance and supporting him in conflicts with the Hulk and Venom.
