After The Last of Us, Part 2 is already out and about, the guesswork regarding what Naughty Dod might do next has started. Will there be Unchartered 5? or a Part 3? However, it somewhere feels like we are not yet done with Part 2.
Factions: Multiplayer
In September 2019, while The Last of Us Part 2 was busy disclosing its different parts to the public, Naughty Dog came forward and replied to the multiplayer question:
The Naughty Dog revealed
“We wanted to address multiplayer in Part II. As we’ve stated, the single-player campaign is far and away from the most ambitious project Naughty Dog has ever undertaken. Likewise, as development began on the evolution of our Factions mode from The Last of Us: Part I, the vision of the team grew beyond an additional mode that could be included with our enormous single-player campaign. Wanting to support both visions, we made the difficult choice that Part II would not include an online mode.”
“However, you will eventually experience the fruits of our team’s online ambition, but not as part of The Last of Us: Part II. When and where it will be realized is still to be determined. But rest assured, we are as big a fan as Factions as the rest of our community and are excited to share more when it’s ready.”
Moreover, everyone has stopped talking about Naughty Dog’s next project. But it has again come up into the light after a Twitter post. We might see it on PS5 and most probably in 2021.
Fans went crazy for the Last of Us’ original Factions multiplayer. As every single player wanted to have it. The fan base was immensely expanded. It looks like Naughty Dog aspires for the same huge fan base as one-time Factions had. This time Factions will also be spending huge money on investment before its release.
Naughty Dog is working hard on Factions as the next big project. They definitely want it to work as a revenue generator and not as a definite sequel. However, another update might come up by the end of this year, Let’s keeps our hopes high.
