The Movie Critic is said to be the title of Quentin Tarantino’s eleventh and last movie, which he intends to direct this fall.
The Movie Critic, Quentin Tarantino’s ninth and last movie, has been made public. Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Death Proof, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and most recently Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are among the nine notable films that the powerful and unmistakable auteur has written and directed over his career. In 2020, Tarantino declared that his tenth and final picture as a director would be coming up.
Finally, we know what Tarantino’s tenth and last movie will be. The Movie Critic is an original movie that Tarantino has finished writing and is reportedly preparing to direct this fall, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The story is “set in late 1970s Los Angeles with a female lead at its center,” according to the sources. Although Sony, who distributed Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, is thought to be the early frontrunner, The Movie Critic does not yet have the support of a studio.
What ‘The Movie Critic’ May Cover
By placing The Movie Critic in Los Angeles in the late 1970s, Tarantino emulates the atmosphere of his previous picture Once Once a Time in Hollywood, set in the late 1960s near the end of Hollywood’s Golden Age. The film’s titular female movie critic may be or at least be modeled on, the late great Pauline Kael, an extremely important and feisty film critic for whom Tarantino has long professed deep reverence. Plot elements are being kept under wraps.
If The Movie Critic is in fact about Kael, the film may follow her brief career as a consultant for Paramount Pictures during the late 1970s, which would correspond with the alleged timeframe of the plot. No information has been released on probable casting for the movie’s female lead, but Tarantino may choose to work with Uma Thurman, one of his most regular collaborators. Thurman’s present age (52) is comparable to that of Kael in the late 1970s. If The Movie Critic is really Quentin Tarantino’s last movie, there won’t be a shortage of incredibly sought-after actors vying for the opportunity to play the lead role. Source: THR
