CW’s The Vampire Diaries entertained its fandom for almost eight seasons. During the series, fans fell in love with the characters and of course the cast. The supernatural teen drama revolves around a complicated love triangle between the human girl Elena and the vampire Salvatore brothers. The series starred Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore, Nina Dobrev as Elena Gilbert and Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore in the lead roles. Elena Gilbert was a central character on the show for a large portion of the series. After featuring as the central character on the show for year, Nina Dobrev left the popular sitcom at the end of Season 6. When, she left the show there were plenty of rumours that Nina Dobrev left the show because of her breakup with her co-star and her ex-partner Ian Somerhalder.
The Reason:
During an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the actress opened up about her decision. Nina said she wanted to explore in her career and she did not want to play a teenager anymore. “The things I want to do aren’t necessarily the things that are expected of me. I don’t want to play a teenager anymore. I want to play adult roles and be challenged and work with great filmmakers and tell incredible stories and that has meant being really picky”
