The second season of The Umbrella Academy witnessed Klaus’s desperate attempts to prevent Dave from entering the war. However, with an alternate timeline coming into effect in the next season, Klaus and Dave might get reunited after all. Klaus Hargreeves, played by Robert Sheehan, and Dave, played by Cody Ray Thompson, need to get reunited in The Umbrella Academy season 3. The first encounter Klaus had with Dave when he unintentionally time travelled to 1968 and reached the center of A Shau Valley amid the Vietnam War.
Klaus and Dave Bromance In The Umbrella Academy Season 3
The first season of The Umbrella Academy didn’t really spend much screen time to express the bromance that the duo shared, but the pair Klaus and Dave did fall in love with each other, during Klaus’ displacement in time. Even though things between them ended a little messed up, the cliffhanger at the end of the third season teased a possible reunion between Klaus And Dave.
Although Dave meets the end of his journey during the battle in season 1. Burdened by grief and refusing to let Dave die in vain once again, Klaus tries to stop him from enlisting in the army upon his return in the 1960s as seen in the second season of The Umbrella Academy. Klaus is devastated by Dave’s death and it’s something that haunts him throughout season 2.
After all the death of the love of his life is something Dave was never ready for, let alone witnessing his dying his own arms on the battlefield. Klaus and his siblings have already played with time earlier, doing so one more time to save his love is a price he is ready to pay. Determined to ensure Dave’s survival, Klaus returns to the 1960s.
Klaus’ Strategy
Keeping in mind the fact that Dave enlists in the army on the very same day that John F. Kennedy was assassinated, Klaus tracks down Dave ahead of time, advising and imploring him not to participate in the war at any price. Going farther into the story, destiny plays out differently when Klaus finds out that all of his wasted efforts couldn’t stop Dave from enlisting as he has already joined the army prior to when he was fated to. But there was no reason to give up hope.
Dave enlisting early and the Hargreeves arriving in the present timeline to discover that their dead brother Ben and father Reginald Hargreeves are suddenly alive means that everyone’s fates could now be different. And if everyone’s fate was different than what it should have been, there was no reason to exclude Dave from them.
What The Future Might Hold
The course of history was changed when Dave enlisted In the Vietnam War ahead of time, this might lead to the possibility that someway, somehow Dave survived in the war and went on to live a full life. Nothing can be confirmed for sure in an uncertain timeline in effect. Anyhow if Dave managed to survive, one cannot simply ignore the five-decade-long “Generation gap” between them. This narrows the possibility of the fan witnessing a romantic relationship being established between them, but even so, Klaus can make peace with this fact if it means that the love of his life is alive and well.
