Though, after their plan goes wrong and they accidentally wreck Santa’s sleigh, the couple join troops with St Nick to get the gifts delivered on time. However, it is not as easy as that.
The story of the sequel, The Christmas Chronicles 2, will reconsider Kate, who is now a disappointed teenager, and her brother Teddy. The plotline is somewhere revealed in the trailer of The Christmas Chronicles 2.
According to Netflix, the time around Kate is “unexpectedly reunited with Santa Claus when a mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel (played by Julian Dennison) threatens to destroy Christmas forever.”
In 2018, The Christmas Chronicles had more than 20 million views in the first week of its release. The movie was the ‘most successful’ movie of Russel’s career, according to the chief content officer of Netflix, Ted Sarandos. However, Netflix usually does not release viewership data. But, Sarandos revealed that The Christmas Chronicles has 20 million views in the first week at the UN’S Global Media and Communications Conference.
He said, “If every one of those was a movie ticket purchase, that’s a $200 million opening week. Even movies that go on to $1 billion don’t typically do that in the first week.”
