Two underrated movies of Benedict Cumberbatch are currently sitting in eleventh place on the most-viewed Netflix movies on the planet chart, finding a lot of love on Netflix this week, and it’s one you probably forgot he was even in.
Currently, two Benedict Cumberbatch movies are dominating Netflix. The Doctor Strange star appears in a couple of the films that are proving to be extensively popular on May 17. These two films, the Penguins of Madagascar and The Grinch happen to be animated flicks featuring the characteristic voice of the Sherlock Holmes actor.
The Grinch
The Grinch is currently seen to be in eleventh place, narrowly missing out on the Top 10, on the most-viewed Netflix films. The Grinch is the 2018 adaptation of the classic Dr. Seuss holiday tale How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Cumberbatch portrays the eponymous snub-nosed character, with the cast also including Rashida Jones, Kenan Thompson, Cameron Seely, and Angela Lansbury, and Pharrell Williams as narrator. Despite its seasonal storyline the production’s effort routinely dips in and out of the Netflix Top 10 all year round.
Penguins of Madagascar
Concurrently, Penguins of Madagascar, the 2014 spinoff of the mainline Madagascar franchise, lies a few positions higher on today’s ranking in seventh place. This production of DreamWorks Animation is a spoof of spy movies, with the titular Antarctic birds allying with Cumberbatch’s Agent classified, a wolf super-spy, to save the world from an evil octopus voiced by John Malkovich. Another cast member is Ton McGrath, Chris Miller, Christopher Knights, Conrad Vernon, and many more.
These two movies are undoubtedly dominating the platform today as families across the world want something to stick on for the kids. Although, Cumberbatch doesn’t have anything to do with the reason they are so popular, as all animated films are coming out with great popularity with an amazing storyline. Alongside, many other films like The secret lives of Pets 2, Minions, and Madagascar 3 are also among the Netflix Top 100.
As for Benedict Cumberbatch, fans are eagerly waiting for his return as Doctor Strange in both Spiderman: No Way Home (coming this December) and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (due next March).
