The Steam early access title has now sold three million copies and that too in just three weeks.
With a 94% user liking rating, 10 on 10 Steam rating, the “Iron Gate AB” developed the game “Valheim” is quickly clawing its way to the top since its release on February 2, 2021. Just 8 days after its release, indie developer Iron Gate announced that Valheim had already sold 1 million copies. And five days after that, the game reached 2 million sales.
The sales count finally smashed the 3 million sales. Catching up behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valheim reached number two for the “Most Played Games on all of the steam” at one point and Is currently enjoying its number three spot comfortably. It has already marked its name in the record for the most number of concurrent players on steam, delivering a devastating blow and knocking GTA V off that top 10 charts. And soon after acquired the #9 spot with 410,000 players, pulling down Postal one rung. Despite having zero discounts during Valve’s Steam Lunar New Year sale, Valheim topper the Steam top sellers list.
Valheim Triumphs Over All!
Viking survival game Valheim looks to be the fastest-growing viral hit ever on Steam. In just 13 days, Valheim has accomplished a player count that would put many other massive, hit games to shame. Compared to same-genre hits like Rust, which has never reached a comparable point, or the similarly viral battle royale Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, which took just over three months in 2017 to reach more than 350,000 players, later peaking at nearly 3,000,000. If the trend continues, Valheim could easily be the biggest all-time viral hit on Steam. Even the meteoric rise of Among Us last year took a month and a half to grow from 5,000 to 370,000 players.
A Brief About The Game
Although Valheim is a slow and methodical game, quite contrasting to what the gamers today seem to like. It is an interactive game of survival where the players can perform all sorts of activities. It allows the gamers to harvest, chop, dig, hunt, skin, and then build better tools to do it all more efficiently over and over again. In Valheim, you are a Badass Viking who can build fortresses and ships, who hunts gods for sports, which is pretty cool. It lets the user explore an insanely gigantic map filled with idyllic scenery, attractive music, and experience fierce battle with dark enemies.
There is no guarantee of how long this mesmerizing effect that Valheim has, will last for the 2 million players across the globe but it is surely going to be a while. If history’s any indication, the players will soon witness a rush of knockoffs, fake-outs, and attempts to make other games play more like it, hence introducing a big competition to it, but one can only hope for the best and wish that the original triumphs over all the fakes
