The release of Tom Hardy’s upcoming outing Venom 2 has been delayed by one week from September 17 to September 24 this year The sequel, which stars Hardy, was most recently pushed to September from June 25 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The one-week delay of Venom 2 means that the movie will no longer release on the same day as the murder mystery Death of the Nile and the animated children’s film The Boss Baby: Family Business.
After the success of Venom, there has been immense excitement among fans for the sequel. With Hardy reprising his role as Eddie Brock, the film will also have Woody Harrelson as Carnage, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Reid Scott as Dan Lewis, and Naomie Harris as Shriek. One of the recurring questions being asked by fans when it comes to Venom 2 is whether Hardy’s Venom will come face to face with his arch-nemesis Spider-Man in the film. While makers have remained tight-lipped about this, we may have to wait for the film to arrive to confirm this.
Venom 2: Release date
With the new September release date, Venom 2 no more collides with the release date of The Boss Baby: Family Business and what initially was set to be the date for Death On the Nile which has also been delayed. The Venom sequel will be the next big release after Suicide Squad, which will be releasing on August 6.
The other films opening on September 24 along with Venom: Let There Be Carnage include Dear Evan Hansen and The Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark.
Venom 2 trailer: Any Venom Let There Be Carnage footage yet?
We might have got that teaser for the official title, but there was no actual footage in it unfortunately, and we’ll be waiting a while, we fear. With the movie delayed to June, it might not be until early 2021 that we get the first trailer for the sequel.
Venom 2 cast: Who is in Venom Let There Be Carnage?
It was pretty much a given that Tom Hardy would be back as Eddie Brock and his alien alter ego. They make actors sign multi-film contracts these days, don’t know. Michelle Williams, who stars as Eddie Brock’s ex-wife Anne Weying, will also return. The actress told Yahoo! simply, “I’m in.” The sequel will hopefully turn the question mark over her relationship with Eddie at the conclusion of the first movie into a full stop. Or an ellipsis. Or some more positive punctuation mark.
But more importantly, Williams hopes the sequel will give She-Venom equal screen time. One new addition to the cast list is likely to be Naomie Harris. Though it has yet to be 100% confirmed, it seems highly probable that the James Bond star will play the villain Shriek in the Venom sequel.
