If you are a true MCU fan, we bet you cried during the title reveal of Black Panther 2
2020 has been a big bummer for the movies and cinema industry. Even a huge movie franchise like Marvel Cinematic Universe was not an exception to it. With all the theatres around the globe closed off, all of the projects scheduled to be released in 2020 had to be delayed and rescheduled for next year. As much as frustrating it was for the fans, it was necessary for the Studios’ future. The MCU had a rich decades-long legacy with incredibly successful movies, unfortunately, thanks to the COVID- 19 pandemic, there were no MCU movies released in 2020.
Therefore, to remind the fans of its amazing past and to celebrate the onset of Phase 4 of the MCU, Marvel Studios released a video on May 3rd, which featured the most mesmerizing moments of the Infinity Saga along with the release dates and official titles of the upcoming projects. There were many new movies included in it but the one which attracted the fans most was Black Panther 2’s title reveal- “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.
Black Panther- The Legacy Of Chadwick Boseman
Marvel has a lot of cinematic masterpiece superheroes and one of them is Black Panther. MCU’s first coloured superhero movie was Black Panther, the story about Wakanda’s king and guardian “The Black Panther”, King T’challa. What makes Black Panther so special is that it was the first superhero film to receive a Best Picture nomination and the first MCU film to win an Academy Award. Not only that but the lead hero Chadwick Boseman delivered an incredible performance while battling cancer.
Unfortunately, our king didn’t make it and died at the age of 43 on August 28, 2020. Though Chadwick parted ways with us, the sequel to his movie had already been announced. Cancelling the movie would have ruined Black Panther’s character and recasting him would have been cold and unjust therefore, Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, announced that they would not be resting Chadwick’s character and the movie would continue as his legacy.
Everyone was confused thinking about what the movie would be about now that the main character is no longer with us and then came to the title reveal. The teaser video revealed that the sequel to the prior movie would be called “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” suggesting that the movie would indeed carry on without a recast and would explore the advanced kingdom he left behind. The clip was more like a tribute to our late fallen hero and hence left the viewers quite emotional. As soon as the clip was posted, fans started to share their emotional reactions on Twitter.
We got responses like “I really thought my interest in the MCU was going to dip after Shang-Chi but seeing as I almost cried seeing the title for Black Panther 2 I’m going to go ahead and say that one.”, “I got a bit choked up at the title reveal for Black Panther 2. Maybe it’s lame or passé to openly admit that, but thinking about the loss of Chadwick Boseman still hurts. He had so (so) much left to give us, and this film will forever be marked by his absence. Wakanda Forever”, “Well I wasn’t expecting to cry first thing this morning, but here we are.
We got a title drop for Black Panther 2, and what I think is our first Eternals footage? This video was incredible! Thank you @MarvelStudios!”. Even though Chadwick is no longer with us, but we would continue to keep him in our hearts and honor his legacy. As of now, we know that the movie would be called “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and would hit the theatres on July 8, 2022. “Wakanda Forever!”
