Warner Bros. planned to release Wonder Woman 1984 on December 25 in theaters as well as on the OTT platform. The film will be released on HBO Max in January.
Movie critic Grace Randolph has discovered that while working on the official release statement, Warner Bros. published an unlisted Wonder Woman 1984 trailer accidentally, stating otherwise. In the trailer, the video announced that the sequel of Wonder Woman will premiere in theaters on 25 December. The same will stream on HBO Max.
Online users viewed the link she gave and took screenshots of the announcement. The video however is switched to private now, so fans will not be able to see it. After an hour, Warner Bros. confirmed that the trailer was right.
Patty Jenkins in October said, “Direct-to-streaming is not even being discussed. We are still 100% behind the theatrical experience for (Wonder Woman 1984) and supporting our beloved theater business.”
