Thanos, the mad titan who killed billions of people just for his ideology. And today’s question is, Was Thanos right? We will be answering this question today, not by looking at comics but looking population as a serious problem like Thanos did.
Before moving ahead, a spoiler warning is now in effect as we will be diving into Marvel movies themselves. Now that you have been warned let us take through the reason, we think is the answer to the question, was Thanos right?
Starting with Avengers: Infinity War. In Infinity War, Thanos explained how his planet had problems like overpopulation which led to decreasing of resources, livelihood due to overuse. So, he proposed the plans to the elders of his planet. That they should exterminate half-life, rich or poor alike on the planet to save it from extinction.
Called as a mad Titan he was exiled from the planet. And he watched his planet die. That gave birth to his life long missions of balancing the universe by exterminating half-life on all planets as he saw similar problems on different planets.
Before coming to the answer that was Thanos right? Let’s talk population first as that is the underlying objective of his mass genocide. In today’s world, there are basically two population growth models. The Exponential growth model which talks about when the population is increasing the rate at which it is increasing starts going faster. For eg: if a person has two kids that is a family of 4 but then the two kids have their own two kids, now that’s a family of 10. But we can’t use this properly as everyone has a different number of kids which leads us to our 2nd model. The Logistic Growth Model that talks about how the population will grow until the place it growing on ends up having no space to grown any further. In simple words, a bacterium will grow in population until there is space on the petri dish.
According to Demographers, earth has a carrying capacity of 10 to 12 billion people. Now that number looks big but if you see to it, it’s not that big. As of now, we have a population of 7.6 billion people around the world. The day isn’t far when the population grows so much that the earth runs out of space to live and even goes out of resources to consume. Where would it lead us when there are no resources like food and water to consume, you guessed it right. To extinction
Now, that you are now experts in demography, lets come back to the question. Was Thanos right? Remember how on the population on Titan grew so much that they ran out of space and resources to consume. These signs can be seen on earth as well. And why was Thanos searching for infinity stones? Because as we can see throughout the series in the marvel that he thinks of himself as a merciful god. Infinity stones were required as he wants half of the population not to die but cease to exist without pain.
And throughout infinity war we can see that the people who died from the snape doesn’t feel any pain, they didn’t understand anything that was happening to them. As they show no signs of pain or suffering. They just ceased to exist without pain as we can say in Thanos’s language.
Coming to Avengers Endgame, Steve Rogers tell Natasha Romanoff, that how he has seen whales returning to shores. How the water is better in condition, how there are few ships and pollution. And those people that died, consisted of all rich and poor alike. No Discrimination and No Pain. Making Earth a place of fewer people and more resources with better conditions to live. He doesn’t feel that mad, does he now?
Was Thanos right? Yes, Thanos was right all along. Other than being a mindless killing machine, He is more like an intelligent Philosopher working for the good of the population. Now we do not support this idea and we do not stand with mass genocide. This is a friendly article justifying the ideology of Thanos. So please don’t go out killing people and saying you did the right thing to save the planet.
