Recently, new plot details of House of Dragon have been revealed, the Prequel show of HBO’s Game of Thrones. We will now be focusing on the history of the House of Targaryen.
HBO dropped some new plot details of its upcoming show House Of Dragon. This show is the prequel of HBO’s amazingly popular Game of Thrones which saw it ends last May. While having an 8 year-long run time this show saw many controversies especially many fans criticized the uneven pacing and emphasis on shock value, but nothing touched the reputation as one of the most impressive fantasy shows. As such, HBO planned some new spin-off series to continue the legacy of Game of Thrones.
One of the main spin-off series is the House of Dragon which will focus on the history of the House of Targaryen. The series has already begun picking up it’s cast where notices revealed that the show was looking for an actor to play Prince Daemon Targaryen, the younger brother of King Viserys, among other characters. Despite the Coronavirus pandemic Casey Bloys the president of HBO confirmed that House of Dragon will be hitting screens in 2022.
Plot Details of House of Dragon
An article by Deadline reported new information about the plot details of House of Dragon. It says that the King of Targaryen will play a crucial role in the prequel series. While he’s selected to succeed Jaehaerys Targaryen as the new king, it seems that Viserys’ journey will be far from smooth sailing. The series already chose its first cast, The Outsider star Paddy Considine is going to play the role of Viserys of Targaryen.
As the history describes Viserys is a “warm, kind and decent man”, it will be interesting to see how he will fit in the family where everyone has a poisonous tongue. In addition, it is still unclear that which part of the Targaryen stories House of the Dragon will choose to tell. However, the prequel’s confirmed focus on Viserys all but rules out the possibility of a season 1 storyline centered around the Dance of the Dragons. The famed civil war was fought between different branches of House Targaryen; however, considering this war was waged after Viserys’ death, it seems unlikely that this particular conflict will be explored in House of the Dragon, at least not right away.
House of Dragon is not he first prequel show of Game of Thrones, another prequel show named The Long Night actually filmed a pilot episode before being scrapped by HBO. But this time it is said that HBO is all in House of Dragon.
