Why Captain Marvel Was A Befitting Role For Her

Captain Marvel released in 2019 was a turning point in the course of the MCU. The movie was not only special because it was a smashing success on the box office making over $1 billion, it was significant as it was the MCU’s first female lead film, introducing one of the most powerful and badass superheroes in Marvel comics into the MCU. Despite the criticism Larson faced, she was the most suitable actor to play this role as Captain Marvel is a symbol of hope for the people, someone who bears the torch of hope in the dark and that is something that is very similar to Brie Larson’s actions and efforts for the public.

Marvel Studios has always been good at making the most suitable people for their roles, people who actually live the character rather than to just play it, the best example being Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark, and this rite of passage was continued when Marvel chose to cast Brie as Captain Marvel. Larson launched a YouTube channel in 2020, which she used to communicate directly with the fans. Recently, she posted a QnA video regarding Captain Marvel in order to celebrate the two-year anniversary of the movie.

In that video, she expressed how she felt while taking up the role and how much it means to her.

“I remember there was a phone call with my agent and manager, sitting in my house staring at my I think it was a $10 bookshelf I got from Goodwill. I remember talking through everything with them, and I just couldn’t find a reason to not do it. I just seemed like I was destined to do it. So I just remember holding the phone, staring at the bookshelf going ‘Oh, my gosh, I’m going to do this” she stated.

Obviously, her time as MCU’s cosmic superhero has only just begun and she has a long way to go. She is also being considered as one of the next big three of the MCU succeeding the previous holders of that title, Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.

The fans would witness her in action once again in the upcoming sequel movie arriving on November 11, 2022, which is expected to go deeper into the character’s life while setting up the stage for the “Skrulls” and their intentions in the MCU. Whether or not they stay on the good side or succumb to evil like in the comics remains to be seen but it would be most exciting to watch Captain Marvel dealing with them along with facing new threats.
