Loki: The God of Mischief is back and it’s just amazing to see what he has in store for us.
Marvel Cinematic Universe is filled with all sorts of characters from superheroes to supervillains, robots, aliens, and of course GROOT. The relations between various characters and galaxies and realms are a little complex (if you don’t start from the very first one) but the individual movies and TV series are in themselves fun and full of adventure. A series of LOKI recently on Disney + Hotstar and fans are finding it difficult to wait for the next episode.
But before we move forward we’ll take a look at what has happened with LOKI over the years? Was he always this devilish or some incident triggered it? Who he actually is apart from being Thor’s brother? Let’s take a look at the history of LOKI LAUFEYSON…..!!!!
HISTORY OF LOKI
Loki is the biological son of ‘Laufey’, who is the ruler of ‘Frost Giants’ in ‘Jotunheim’ and was deserted to die, shortly after his birth. He was then founded by Odin and was taken to Asgard and looked after by him and Frigga as an Asgardian prince and just like their own son, Thor (God of Thunder).
When Thor was about to be crowned as king, Loki vandalized the enthroning by letting the Frost Giants attack on Asgard, therefore, instigating Loki to attack Jotunheim. Then from there on, he was about to become the ruler but then Thor returned from his exile on Earth and LOKI entered a deep rift of space called ‘Wormhole’ which was created by the disruption of the Bifrost bridge.
He is a cunning trickster from Norse mythology with the power of changing his shape, size, and sex. His tricks started as soon as he made his first appearance in the 1st part of THOR where he tricks his brother THOR into a fight with Frost Giants and banish him from the throne LOKI so many likes and so badly wants.
He was also seen as the main villain of the first part of “The Avengers” where he captures the tesseract because he was recruited by ‘The Other’ who works for ‘Thanos’ and had given Loki the ‘Chitauri and Scepter’. He makes a grand entry by entering the hidden S.H.I.E.L.D.S place and attacking the head ‘Nick Fury’ and then when he 1st encounters ‘The Avengers’ in New York. He is not just crazy and dangerous but he is also funny and has a great sense of humor.
LOKI: THE SERIES
After a very long wait and especially after being killed in like 5 minutes of the opening scene of Avengers Endgame, LOKI is finally back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The OTT platform Disney + Hotstar released a series ‘LOKI’ and the fans couldn’t be happier. It is always nice and happening to have Loki in a movie. He previously was seen in a total of 6 Marvel movies in the order ‘Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame’. The character of LOKI is played by ‘Tom Hiddleston’.
LOKI: POWERS & ABILITIES
Like all the other powerful superheroes have some or the other ability, Loki also has some powers and it’s not exactly a secret. Being a kid of Laufey (who belonged to Frost Giant), he possessed abnormally high strength, speed, agility, stamina, reflexes, and durability. He also gathered knowledge of the use of Asgardian sorcery from Frigga, all this added to his inbuilt powers of being cunning, mysterious, manipulative and has a very strategic mind too.
We have certainly talked a lot about powers; let’s also learn about some of his abilities. He certainly has a very high intellect and is certainly the best person when it comes to deceiving someone or manipulating someone. He is also the center player if you want to carve out a cunning scheme and so is also known as “God of Mischief”. One other ability that Loki very dearly possessed is his capability to master combat and he certainly preferred Sorcery over Asgardian War Art. Knife mastery and Spear mastery were also among some of the abilities that LOKI possessed.
Loki as much time as he spends in the open was also captivated and held in prison by so many. Be it S.H.I.E.L.D in The Avengers or TVA (Time Variance Authority) in the ongoing LOKI series, he has been in various types of jails all along. But the character of Loki played by Tom Hiddleston is one of the most loved by fans all over.
