If there is one thing that the fans of the murder mystery genre are asking apart from “Who Killed Sara?”, is the question of when Who Killed Sara Season 2 comes out or whether there will be a second season at all.

The release date

It was reported by Deadline that Netflix has confirmed the renewal of the Spanish language murder mystery series for a second season. What is more exciting is that Who Killed Sara Season 2 will allegedly premiere on 19th May, this year, on Netflix which is just two months after the premiere of its first season, which dropped on 24th March.

Who Killed Sara

What happened so far in Season 1. (warning: spoilers ahead)

The first season of Who Killed Sara revolves around a brother(Alex), who has just been released from prison. Being falsely convicted for the murder of his sister (Sara), he is hell-bent on finding out who really killed Sara. Sara dies in a parasailing accident in 2001 while on a luxurious vacation with her brother, her boyfriend, and his rich family. In the present day, Alex is free from prison and on a quest to find his sister’s killer. He faces a lot of revelations in his journey, including the fact that Sara was suicidal and her death might be suicide. Every character comes under the radar of suspicion by the end of season 1 and to the audience’s shock, Alex finds human remains in a shallow grave with a bullet hole through the skull, suggesting that the cause of Sara’s demise might have been something completely different from what we thought.

Who Killed Sara Season 2 Release

Cast: New Additions and the members who are returning.

At least three new actors are getting on board for Who Killed Sara Season 2, namely Matias Novoa, Antonio de la Vega and Daniel Gimenez Cacho but nothing has been revealed about the roles that they will be playing. As far as the old cast is concerned, Manolo Cardona (who plays Alex) will be returning as Who Killed Sara Season 2 will  heavily focus on his journey of unravelling the conspiracy surrounding his sister’s mysterious death, almost 20 years ago. Apart from him a bunch of other cast members will be making a return, which includes Alejandro Nones, who plays Sara’s boyfriend (Rodolfo Lazcano) and  actors Claudia Ramirez and Gines Garcia Millan, both of whom play the leaders of the Lazcano clan. Ela Velden, popularly known as “Dianna the huntress” will also be seen in season 2.

Who killed Sara season 2 teaser and theories

On 29th March, the Netflix Latino America YouTube account shared a short, 45-second long teaser of Who Killed Sara season 2. The teaser had more flashbacks of Sara and a shot of Alex alongside skeletons in what seems like an examination room. The caption that accompanies the clip says “The search to find out what happened to Sara continues, but along the way, Alex discovers that, in reality, his sister was not who he thought.”

The teaser of Who Killed Sara season 2 suggests that the viewers are in for a ride for the second season. We might get a lot of Sara’s back story in season 2. At the end of season 1, we saw Alex finding Sara’s diary where she wrote about her mental health struggles and fears. “What if I’m crazy like him?”  The diary also had a drawing of the unmarked grave where Alex found the unidentified skull. A bunch of questions has stemmed up from the ending of last season, which includes, who is the “he” mentioned in the diary? Did Sara kill herself? Did the skull that Alex found on the grave belong to Sara? We are positive that season 2 will answer all these questions.

Who Killed Sara Season 2

Will there be a season 3 of Who Killed Sara?

The Cinemaholic has claimed that the series creator Jose Ignacio Valenzuela has stated that the best way to pitch an idea for a series to Netflix is to stretch the story out for at least 3 seasons. Thus we can conclude that Netflix will come back with the third installment of this murder mystery.
