Disney now owns both Marvel and Star Wars. So, the characteristics that are talked about in them are not very surprising anymore. In the late 70s, before Star Wars was acquired by Disney, it was at its zenith of popularity. At this time, Marvel decided to take off the series and made Spiderman fight Doctor Doom in a laser sword battle.
Through the Children’s education series, The Electric Company has revamped the Spidey Super Stories. The spiderman was seen in light-hearted stories that include fights against supervillains, satires, or teammates. Peter Parker was featured teaming up with Marvel Boy and Sam (the robot) in Spidey Super Stories #31. They teamed up to rescue Moondragon from Doctor Doom’s spaceship.
Spiderman and Doctor Doom
Spidey Super Stories #31 written by Win Mortimer, Kofax Mingo, and Mike Esposito. In the story, Peter went out on a date with Mary Jane Watson. He looked very excited about his date with Mary Jane Watson but the date is soon interrupted as a tiny rocket crashed near them. Spiderman examines the crash and discovers that it was Sam the Robot. Sam told Spiderman that Moondragon was imprisoned by Doctor Doom and they fought to set him free but were stopped by Doctor Doom. However, they didn’t give up and Spiderman together with Sam, Marvel Boy, and Paul got their way into Doom’s ship. They recovered Moondragon as soon as they got into the ship. Doctor Doom tried to stop Spiderman but get a strike on his head instead. Spiderman finally knocked Doom on the ground and fled.
The matter in question is the fact that Superman is featured as a light-hearted character in the film and that has made it a joke at the Star Wars Universe. It doesn’t fit with the other sci-fi series and this makes it a big issue. However, Doctor Doom will always remain the Darth Vader of the Marvel Universe.
