Fantastic beasts Mads Mikkelsen confessed that his Fantastic Four audition was not at all Fantastic. Know the reason why?
Mads Mikkelsen, the famous Danish actor made a name for himself in the acting industry by his incredible roles in numerous movies. His outstanding performances include Le Chiffre in Casino Royale, Igor Stravinsky in Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, Johann Friedrich Struensee in A Royal Affair, Lucas in the Danish film The Hunt (2012), Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the television series Hannibal and Kaecilius in Marvel’s Doctor Strange. As of now, he has starred in most of the biggest movie franchises and this notion is seemingly continuing as we go into the future. He has procured roles in the Fantastic Beasts series and Indiana Jones 5. If luck had played out a little differently, we might have seen Mads playing a different Marvel character way back.
Mads Mikkelsen As Mr. Fantastic In Fantastic Four
Mikkelsen recently revealed that he auditioned for the role of Mr. Fantastic in the Fantastic Four during the early days of his Hollywood acting career. He ultimately walked out on the role as he was not really into it. “Yeah, and actually a good friend of mine got it, Ioan Gruffudd.
I know a lot of casting is just first impressions — is there anything there that reminds the producer and the director of the character they’re looking for? But I find it rude to ask people to come into a room and say one line while pretending you have 80-foot arms like the rubber man. ‘Grab that cup of coffee over there’ — it’s like, Are you crazy? There’s not even a scene here.
It was kind of humiliating” he shared. After Mikkelson turned down the role, Ioan Gruffudd was cast as Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four movie alongside Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis. The movie was a great success and made a great name for the Fantastic Four among the greatest superhero films. Over the years, Mads delivered some awesome roles in amazing movies, even from the studios he walked out on could not resist hiring him again as one of the villains for its movie.
Last year when Johnny Depp was asked to leave his role of Grindelwald, making an opening in the franchise leading to Mikkelsen to be hired in his place. Indiana Jones 5 which is going to feature Mikkelsen is going to start shooting this summer. Considering how so many movie franchises have cast him, one can only wonder about how things have unfolded if he had been cast as Reed Richards. But even IoanGruffudd nailed the role and didn’t make it seem like a bad decision to hire him.
