Just when all the Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have been anticipating the release of the new Spider-Man 3, a new word on the street goes around stating that one more character will show up in the movie. A character that everyone has been wanting to see for a very long time now and it is none other than Matt Murdock aka Daredevil and not just any Daredevil but Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. After only three seasons, Marvel’s Daredevil was called off by Netflix back in late 2018.
Netflix’s legal clause restrained the characters from re-appearing in any films or series for two years after cancellation. Nevertheless, recently in the past couple of weeks, the rights to Daredevil went back to Marvel Studios from Netflix which means they can now use Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Soon, after this incident, a #SaveDaredevil started blowing up everywhere. This hashtag was originally started by the fans for Marvel to save the actual Daredevil series that we watched on Netflix and not take Charlie Cox’s character and put him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, I am sure no fans are going to be disappointed to see Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that daredevil be none other than Charlie Cox himself.
The Hype
This hype first ignited from murphysmultiverse.com, a very renowned and reliable site that indeed has been right about many reports, rumors, and leaks previously and today the website is outlining that Charlie Cox is going to show up as Matt Murdock a.k.a Daredevil in the MCU in Spider-Man 3. However, they did not reveal anything about what exactly Charlie Cox’s role is going to be in the said movie. Now, there is definitely a lot that the character could take on in the movie but it can also be just as much as playing Peter Parker’s lawyer. The fact that Matt Murdock, as we know is only Daredevil at night but a lawyer during the day, is speculated upon for quite some time now.
In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker was framed by Mysterio by the end of the movie. Mysterio set him up and
also managed to reveal his identity while J. Jonah Jameson told the entire world that it was Peter Parker who was behind all the chaos and the destruction that had happened and as a matter of fact, it was Peter Parker who had killed Mysterio. As a result of which the authorities are going after Peter Parker and either they will catch him or Peter Parker will turn himself in and exactly at that moment Peter Parker is going to need a lawyer to help him in court. Now the theories have always stated that it is either Jessica Walters a.k.a She-Hulk or Charlie Cox’s Daredevil. However, since She-Hulk is not going to start shooting for quite a while now and Spider-Man 3 is going to release way before She-hulk, it does not really make sense that Jessica Walters is going to play Peter Parker’s lawyer. But again, it is not yet confirmed that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is going to return to help Spider-Man or it is just going to be Matt Murdock showing up as Peter Parker’s Lawyer to help in the court. However, I feel that it just makes absolute sense to see
Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in Spider-man 3 as either Matt Murdock, his lawyer, or Daredevil because let us not forget that Spider-Man and Daredevil are actually very close friends in the comics.
Anyhow, this still implies that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is going to remain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even if he does not play a huge role in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, he will still be playing a role in his own film or any other films as Daredevil in the coming future and it is after all that the fans have always wanted since the show got cancelled to when its rights were given back to Marvel Studios. We can say that the #SaveDaredevil I finally paying off as now Daredevil is going from the small screens to the big screens and it is not a new Daredevil, not a new actor playing Daredevil but Charlie Cox himself reprising his role as Daredevil, just as how we can always
fancied.
