Benedict Cumberbatch just expressed his views on the possibilities for Sherlock Holmes Season 5.
The much-anticipated return of the amazing television series Sherlock is something the fans have wondered for a long time and they are finally getting some insight about its possibility. The lead actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the role of Sherlock Holmes, recently stated that season 5 of Sherlock Holmes is entirely possible, however, it is unlikely that it would happen any time soon.
Sherlock Holmes is a crime TV series created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatisswhich is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes detective stories. There have been 4 seasons with 3 episodes each, along with a special episode that aired on January 1, 2016. The series concluded on January 15, 2017, with a peaceful, happy ending that made the fans genuinely happy. It has been nearly 4 years since it ended and its return is something that is still actively discussed among fans.
Benedict Cumberbatch As Sherlock Holmes
Benedict Cumberbatch has certainly rocked the stage with his role of a detective with a high IQ and low EQ. He has already performed roles of intellectuals with low EQ before on two amazing movies (my personal favorites) “Star Trek: Into Darkness”, where he played the role of “Khan”, a superior human with high intellect and evil intentions, and “The Imitation Games” where he played the role of the great “Alan Turing”, the brilliant scientist who helped in turning the tide of World War 2.
Even though Benedict Cumberbatch is now well known for his role as MCU’s Sorcerer Supreme and the Master Of Mystic Arts, Dr. Strange, there can be no doubt that it was the role of Sherlock which slingshot his career as an actor. He flawlessly performed the role, brilliantly expressing the character’s peculiar approach at deducing things, while mixing it with a pinch of insanity. He along with Martin Freeman, who plays Dr. James Watson, have won Emmys for their performances on the show. The iconic duo of the detective and the doctor was made even better by the actors’ effort, who practically lived the role.
What Benedict Cumberbatch Has To Say About Sherlock Holmes Season 5
While in an interview with Collider about his new film “The Courier”, Benedict Cumberbatch was questioned about the possibility of Sherlock Holmes Season 5 happening, to which he replied that “it is not off of the table but won’t happen any time soon”. “I’m the worst person to ask on this because I never say never, obviously. But I don’t know. And I’m the worst person to ask because my slate’s pretty, pretty full at the moment, as is Martin [Freeman, Watson] and all the other key players involved. So, who knows? Maybe one day, if the script’s right.”
And I say ‘the script‘ maybe it could be a film rather than a series. “Who knows? But anyway, not for now,” he stated. Both of the lead actors have a very busy schedule along with the creator of the show, due to their involvement in different upcoming projects. Benedict Cumberbatch even suggested that a movie is more likely to happen as it would be easier and quicker to shoot than 3 whole episodes. Nonetheless, the mere hope of Sherlock returning is enough to pump up the fans, but let us all hope that this wait doesn’t turn out to be too long.
