Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 director is ready to helm a new movie that will be based on the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra. She will be starring none other than Wonder Woman as Cleopatra.
According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures is presently creating Cleopatra after winning an auction for the movie. Gal Gadot will feature in the biographical period piece as Cleopatra, with Patty Jenkins directing the film and Laeta Kalogridis penning the script. Wonder Woman as Cleopatra will be seen as the lead in the film.
Wonder Woman as Cleopatra would be quite interesting. Cleopatra is said to be produced by Charles Roven of Atlas Entertainment with Patty Jenkins, Gadot, and Gadot’s Pilot Wave Motion Pictures partner, Jaron Varsano. Besides, Kalogridis will executive produce the film. According to Deadline, the movie was originally Gadot’s idea and was developed by Pilot Wave, with the Wonder Woman star taking part in several Zoom pitches with Jenkins, Roven, and Varsano.
Wonder Woman As Cleopatra To Reach Big Screens Shortly
Deadline explains that there is an “accelerated timetable” on giving rise to Cleopatra to the big screen as Paramount strides to put out a big-budget theatrical release as soon as possible, with Kalogridis to start writing the film shortly. After things are on board, we will be seeing Wonder Woman as Cleopatra soon.
A member of the Macedonian Greek Ptolemaic empire, Cleopatra VII Philopator was the final active ruler of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, her reign lasted for 21 years, from 51 BC to 30 BC. The real-life emperor has been depicted in Hollywood films before, by Elizabeth Taylor in 1963’s Cleopatra, directed by Joseph Mankiewicz.
The upcoming Cleopatra based movie will be directed by Patty Jenkins and the script will be by Laeta Kalogridis, Paramount Pictures’ Cleopatra stars Gal Gadot. The movie does not presently have a release date.
