The third season of Netflix’s popular psychological thriller YOU is undergoing its production. Sera Gamble, the executive producer of the show has just dropped a teaser on her Instagram by posting a picture of the script of YOU season 3.
Based on a series of Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novels, YOU features Penn Badgley (popular for his role as Dan in Gossip Girl) playing the role of Joe Goldberg. Hailing from Newyork, Goldberg is a charming, deceiving, psychopathic, stalker who kills his lovers. In the first season the audience witnesses his obsessive and twisted romance with Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail) and how, after being driven by obsession and jealousy, he ends up killing his lover. The second season revolves around Goldberg seeking refuge in Los Angeles, trying to escape his murderous past. Here he meets his next lover(target), Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) but this time fate had something else in store for Joe.
The show which first aired on Lifetime in 2018, got picked up by Netflix and since then it has become one of the most popular shows on the streaming giant. The riveting take of the series paired up with the gut-wrenching acting by Penn Badgley makes YOU all the more interesting and gripping. Although YOU season 3 was confirmed by Netflix in early 2020, the premiere date got postponed because of the pandemic. Netflix is yet to announce a releasing date but we’re hoping the show comes out by late 2021.

Apart from being extremely entertaining, this show has also started a conversation about topics of mental health and childhood abuse. One of the key points that make this show different from others in this genre is the fact that, unlike other psychological thrillers, YOU tells the story from the point of view of the psychopath himself, making it easier for the audience to understand his story from a humanitarian perspective.
